In a recent video obtained from social media, Jonny Bairstow was seen talking about what Jos Butler told him just before their team lifted the 2019 World Cup.
England won the World Cup after beating New Zealand at Lord’s in a thrilling finals.
Recalling the incident, Bairstow talked about what Butler told him. According to him, Butler told him that his father would be proud of his achievement.

Jonny’s father, David Bairstow-
Bairstow’s father, David Bairstow, was himself a wicket-keeper batsman, who played four tests for England and enjoyed a 20-year career with Yorkshire. He is known to have been suffering from depression, and it was not easy for an eight-year old in the Jonny to see his father deal with his depression and mother, who was suffering from breast cancer.

At the age of 46, David ended his own life, and for a young Jonny, it was a setback that he had to live with.

Jonny, who was also a talented football and a rugby player as a youngster, later began to concentrate solely on cricket. His breakthrough into the England side was also not straight-forward. He made his test debut in 2012, but he had to wait three more years to become a regular in the side. He was one of the prime beneficiaries of England’s revamp in 2015, and has been hugely influential in England’s success in limited over cricket. His presence at the top of the order laid the platform for England on most occasions.
As England went on to lift the 2019 WOrld Cup, Bairstow scored 535 runs in 11 matches in the tournament at an average of 48.36 and a strike rate touching 93.
