The Los Angeles Lakers are off to a splendid start this season. They are now 6-2, on a 4-game winning streak, with their second consecutive victory over the Memphis Grizzlies. The men in Golden and Purple are back to topping the WC standings, and it is the duo of LeBron James and Anthony Davis that again takes the credit for this.

The Lakers defeated the Grizzlies 94-92 in a game that almost went into overtime. LeBron posted a slow start to the second outing against the Grizzlies. He had recorded just 5 points out of his 15 minutes of play in the first half. However, the way he ended the game was an absolute classic and a treat to watch.

When LeBron James took it personally

At one point in the game, the Grizzlies’ guard Dillon Brooks escaped and dodged the defender in King James and forced him down on the floor. He did not stop at that. The 24-YO Canadian followed it by a long grunt in Bron’s face, who was still lying on the floor. The 4-time NBA Champion took it personally (the Michael Jordan way) and showed the youngster why he is the legend.

With just 65 seconds left in the game and the Lakers leading 86-83, the Akron Hammer pulled an 18-ft fall back fade away. The ball found just nets and nothing else as the Lakers took an important lead with just a minute remaining.

However, one must also agree that Dillon Brooks too did exceptionally well in those clutch moments. With under two seconds remaining on the clock, he scored a 3-pointer that left the Grizzlies trailing by just 2 points. However, they could not get hold of a good possession after that and lost the game.

Bron and Anthony Davis once again put on a show

While LeBron was quiet in the first half, it was AD who held the trigger in his hands. Anthony Davis scored 12 points in the first half and concluded the game with 26 points, 10 rebounds, and 4 assists to his name. He was also a force from the defensive end with 3 steals and as many blocks. The 28-YO even dropped four threes in the game with 40% accuracy.

Bron, on the other hand, struggled from the three-point range but still managed a crucial double-double.

For the Grizzlies, everyone contributed almost equally. De’Anthony Melton enjoyed a notable moment of a surprising block and score against AD, but it was nothing that could allow them to dominate long term.
