The 23-year old had had a great run at the Australian Open and emerged as one of the sport’s rising stars. In her video, she was seen in Miami playing against Argentine player Juan Martin del Potro. Del Potro had fractured a kneecap and pulled out of the Miami Open 2019. However, if this video is any proof, his recovery is going well and he could be back on his feet soon. Sakkari on the other hand, was competing in Miami Open 2019, but sadly lost to Petra Kvitova [https://www.essentiallysports.com/tag/petra-kvitova/] in the second round. In the opening round, she saw off a challenge from Serbia’s Olga Danilovic in three sets. Now, Sakkari and Juan Martin del Potro will be looking forward to the next tournament and the start of the clay season. The first tournament will be the Monte Carlo Open and the clay season will continue as players gear up for Roland Garros last this year.

However, his talent was unearthed by Ugo Colombini, and later became his agent and close friend.

Juan Martin Del Potro’s junior career lasted for a couple of years between 2003 and 2005. He turned professional in June 2005, when he was just 16, and in his very first tournament at Reggio Eimilia, he reached the semifinals. Victories in three future tournaments helped him reach the world ranking of 157, making him the youngest player to do so. In 2006, he qualified for the French Open and the US Open but lost in the opening round. He finished the year inside the top 100 rankings, the youngest at 18 years and 2 months. The next two years saw Del Potro achieve greater heights, including four consecutive titles in 2008. He also made considerable progress at the majors, but his biggest achievement was playing in the Davis Cup Final for Argentina.

2009 was clearly the best season for Del Potro in terms of results. He made some major advancements on clay, beating the likes of Rafael Nadal in Rome. He also made it to the semifinals of the French Open, where he was defeated by Roger Federer in a closely contested match. He struggled at Wimbledon, losing in the second round to Lleyton Hewitt in the second round.

Seeded sixth at the 2009 US Open, DelPo made it to the final against Roger Federer, but not before defeating Rafael Nadal in the semifinal. He then put on a masterful display against Roger and defeated the Swiss in a five-set encounter. He thus became the first man since David Nalbandian to beat Federer at the US Open. He finished the year inside the top 10 players, making him the youngest at the time.

In 2010, DelPo injured his wrists for the first time, and though he played at the Australian Open, he was knocked off in the fourth round. He remained injured for nine months, and his rankings dropped past 250. In 2011, he returned to the tour, and though he couldn’t win any majors, he finished as the number 11 player in the world, making him the ATP Comeback Player of the Year. His biggest achievement in 2012 came at the London Olympics, where he bagged a bronze medal for Argentina. Andy Murray bagged the gold medal, while Roger Federer had to settle for a silver medal. He also took with him four titles and finished the year as world number 7.

A semifinal at Wimbledon, along with four titles, helped DelPo make it to the top 5 again in 2013, but the following year he witnessed a second wrist injury that kept him out of action for two years. He missed a major part of the 2014 and 2015 seasons, only to make a stronger return in 2016. After a gap of nine years, DelPo enjoyed success on the tour, winning a silver medal at the 2016 Rio Olympics but losing to Andy Murray in the final. Later in the year, he helped Argentina win the Davis Cup against Croatia in the final. For the second time in his career, DelPo was named the ATP Comeback Player of the Year.

The following year, his best outing came at the 2017 US Open, where he defeated Roger Federer in the quarterfinal but lost to Rafael Nadal in the semis. Later, he also won the Stockholm Open, finishing the year with 730 points and as world number 11. In 2018, DelPo experienced another high as he made it to the US Open Final, losing to Novak Djokovic in straight sets. However, his biggest win came at the Indian Wells Masters 1000 tournament, where he lifted the title after defeating Roger Federer once again. He made it to the year-end ATP Finals but had to opt out due to a persistent knee injury.

Injuries continue to take a toll on DelPo as he played minimum tennis between June 2019 and 2022, during which he underwent four right knee surgeries. In January 2022, DelPo announced that he was returning to competitive tennis and that he would likely retire after the Argentina Open. His last match came against Fedrico Delbonis, and he hasn’t played a match since. He has not officially announced his retirement, and though he started training for the 2023 US Open, he later withdrew in August, stating that his physical condition doesn’t allow him to compete at the top level anymore.

But it was only from the 19th century onwards that it became a serious game. A typical tennis match consists of games. Players score 15 points to 30 points to 40 points and finally a game. In the event of 40-40, also known as a deuce, a player has to gain an advantage and win the next point to win the game.

The first to reach 6 games with a minimum gap of 2 games wins a set. However, if one player wins 6 games and the other wins 5, the leading player has to win a 7th game before his opponent. In the event of six games all, on certain occasions, a tiebreak is played until a player either reaches 6 games or wins by 2 games if both reach 6 games.

Coming to sets, there are 2 types of matches, 3-set matches and 5-set matches. In the event of the former, if a player earns 2 set wins, he or she wins the match. In the latter's case, it is a case of a player winning at least 3 sets.
