WATCH: Tennis Players Send Christmas Wishes To Their Fans

With the off-season of tennis coinciding with the Christmas celebrations, a few tennis players tried to make their practice sessions as festive as possible and they sent their greeting to the world outside. 

The tennis players Novak Djokovic, Simona Halep, Karolina Pliskova, Kevin Anderson, Petra Kvitova, Stan Wawrinka, Garbine Muguruza, Caroline Wozniaki, Stefanos Tsitsipas, and a few others sent their Christmas wishes to their fans.

“Lots of health, happiness, joy, and love, best quality time with your close ones,” Djokovic wished his fans. “I wish everybody, 2020 is your best year ever. Santa brought some presents for me. I hope you’d receive plenty of those as well. But the most important present is to fell happiness in heart at this wonderful time of the year. Enjoy”

Big announcement on Christmas

Unlike others, a legendary tennis professional from India Leander Paes penned an emotional note on the occasion of Christmas and announced his retirement from the sport. Along with his Christmas greetings to his fans, he announced the year 2020 will be his farewell season on the ATP Tour.

The 46-year-old professional Paes served the ATP Tour for 28 affluent years. He is one of the most iconic tennis players which the country of India has ever had.

His bronze medal victory at Atlanta Olympics 1996 was the most resonating moment for Indian tennis as the tears of joy rolled down his eyes after the reception of the prestigious medal in the US.

“Merry Christmas everyone! Here’s wishing all of you and your families a fabulous year ahead filled with health, happiness, and excitement. This being said, I want to announce 2020 as my farewell year as a pro tennis player,” Paes announced.

Former World Number one Wozniacki will be hanging her tennis racquets at Australian Open 2020 and before that, she will feature at the Auckland Open 2020. The Dane has also signed up for the doubles action alongside her friend Serena Williams.

After having a downward slope in the second half of the 2019 season Muguruza’s partnership with Conchita Martinez is expected to create wonders in the 2020 season of tennis.

Azarenka has pulled out from the Melbourne major and the reasons are undisclosed. The Belarusian dwelled decently on the doubles domain in 2019, but will she be able to attain her former niche in the singles circuit in the upcoming season of tennis?

Wawrinka probably made one of the best comebacks in 2019, however, the three-time Grand Slam champion was title-less in 2019 despite reaching two ATP finals. Will he be able to fill that title void in 2020?

In 2019, Kvitova was just a handful of points away from the World Number one ranking after her win in Stuttgart. However,  her forearm injury forced her to withdraw from French Open 2019 and she couldn’t reach the top spot. Will the two-time Wimbledon champion remain injury-free in 2020?

The Romanian queen of tennis Simona Halep played a 56-minute final match and lifted up her first Wimbledon title. The second-most consistent WTA champ is aiming to ace at the Tokyo Olympics in the year 2020.

The Czech player Pliskova won four WTA titles in 2019, but the 2015 US Open finalist is still in the quest of her first major crown.

What year it was Bencic after winning the title in Dubai and Kremlin she qualified for the WTA Finals 2019 in Shenzhen. And before that, she reached the semifinals of the US Open 2019.

Although Svitolina was title-less in 2019, she achieved her personal best performance at Slams. She became the first Ukranian tennis player to reach consecutive major semifinals (Wimbledon and US Open) and hopes to win a Slam in 2020.
