WATCH: Virat Kohli Saves a Fan From Security Personnel In Indore

Virat Kohli is arguably one of the most followed cricketers in the world in recent times and it is no secret that he has a huge fan following. Recently in the Indore Test, they turn out in huge numbers to watch him play where India registered a thumping win over Bangladesh by an innings and 130 runs on the last session of Day 3.

However, on Day 3 of the first Test between India and Bangladesh, an ardent fan of Virat Kohli was seen jumping a fence during a drinks break and ran on to the ground. The fan, with “VK” and number 18 painted on his back, tried to touch the feet of the Indian cricketers but soon the security personnel caught him up. Virat Kohli then was seen putting his arm around his neck and requested the security personnel to be gentle with him.

This kind gesture of Virat Kohli won the hearts of everyone and also it went viral on the Internet.

However, this is not the first time in India and in most cases, it became an embarrassment for the organisers, cricketers and often the viewers as well. Earlier, on Day Three of the second Test between India and South Africa in Pune, a fan had breached the security and ended up landing on the crease. Sunil Gavaskar, who was doing the commentary then, raised questions about the security of players after that.

“These incidents happen because security people are not watching the crowd but are watching the match. This has been the perennial problem in India. The security is not there to watch the match for free. They are there to stop such interruptions from happening,” Gavaskar had earlier said.

“I say put the camera on the security and check whether they are watching the match or the crowd. This is a dangerous security issue which is what you are there for, to make sure no one goes into the ground. Anyone can cause damage to a player. It has happened in the past, why take a chance,” Gavaskar had further added.

However, the focus has shifted on the second and final Test match which is going to be a day-night clash, with India hosting their first-ever pink-ball Test at Eden Gardens in Kolkata from November 22.
