WATCH: When Novak Djokovic Met Spider-Man on the Tennis Court

Throughout the years, we have seen many things on the tennis court. We have seen some historic matches, some great shots but rarely have we ever seen a fictional superhero on the court. One of those times when we did was at the 2019 Rome Masters where Novak Djokovic faced off against Diego Schwartzman. Check it out.

Spider-Man With Novak Djokovic

As you can see in the above Twitter post, Novak Djokovic and Diego Schwartzman were greeted by a fan dressed as Spider-Man. They shook hands with him and even took a picture with him. This is not something you see happening on the court which is why fans would have thoroughly enjoyed it.

Now, why was Spider-Man there in the first place?

Apparently, it was to promote the movie that was going to release soon – Spide-Man: Far From Home. As you would expect, the movie was a hit so we can say that these types of promotions worked very well.

After this, many people would have expected these kinds of promotions in 2020. Especially, considering the fact that Marvel was supposed to release some more movies this year. Sadly, that could not happen because of the coronavirus pandemic.

The ATP Tour was suspended because of the virus and is only going to return in July. This has not worked in the favor of Novak Djokovic who wanted the opportunity to win some more Grand Slams as he is in the race to become the GOAT of tennis.

For a long time, Novak was not in contention to be the GOAT of tennis. But now, with his recent successes, he is coming extremely close to beating his rivals Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer to that goal. That is something that is definitely going to be on his mind.

This is why he is probably training hard even now because he wants to remain fit for when the Tour returns. And when it does, we can expect the 17-time Grand Slam champion to do his best to become the GOAT of tennis.
