Both Sharma and Kohli made the winning foundation with the bat and helped India win with 15 balls to spare.

However, regular opener Shikhar Dhawan did not bat as he was injured during the Australian innings. In his absence, another opener KL Rahul opened the innings with Rohit. However, Rahul failed to contribute much.

“We got a very good start, and when KL got out, it was a tricky situation because the ball was turning and gripping. This is where experience comes in, (Rohit and I) spoke about stringing a partnership and Australia wants is wickets. If we don’t give them that, we can chase seven or eight an over later on also. We do have that belief in our skill,” said Kohli.

Both Kohli and Rohit stitched a 137-run partnership for the second wicket and took the game away from the visitors. Moreover, the captain said that it’s enjoyable to bat with the limited-overs vice-captain.
