“We must stop today from having six-seven people around. I don’t mind two, a trainer and a physiotherapist, or a trainer and your wife. When I got to the circuit, there weren’t six guys around, you have to keep it right. It is not catastrophic to come with one or two people for three weeks. It is not death, life is long.”

While Richard Gasquet expressed his opinion on this restriction, he did not talk about another one – no fans at the US Open arena. This idea was looming for a long time and finally, it has been implemented at one of the biggest events in the sport.

When this idea was first proposed, there were many people opposing it. Roger Federer, who just ended his 2020 season, was one of those players. He said that he would prefer a lesser number of people at the arena, but he could not play in an arena that was empty.

Now that the idea has been implemented, it would be interesting to see what the players have to say. They will definitely not be happy about it. But hopefully, they will not pull out from the tournament so that the 2020 US Open will still be an entertaining event despite the pandemic.
