He has always done a fantastic job of knocking out his opponents, and the striker’s punching techniques have helped him climb to the top. As of 2020, the Irish boxer holds the 11th rank in the UFC men’s pound-for-pound rankings

McGregor has given a lot of defining moments to his fans, and the same is visible through the millions of followers he has. Among his fans is none other than the living legend Arnold Schwarzenegger. Conor and Arnold have supported each other through the ups and the downs.

When Arnold Schwarzenegger surprised Conor McGregor

McGregor has had a career that has been an inspiration to all his fans. His fall and rise in the Ultimate Fighting Championship are chronicled in the documentary Conor McGregor: Notorious

While McGregor was recovering from his injury, people commented on him not being fit enough. Amidst all the criticisms and negative comments, McGregor was happy and grateful to see Arnold Schwarzenegger when he visited Conor’s house. Arnold gave him all the support and motivation he needed in those trying times, and the two spoke about how Conor wanted to get back to the octagon and bring down his opponents. McGregor looked a good deal more positive after having met his inspiration.

Arnold Schwarzenegger is a living legend, and it’s easy to see why he has found a fan base amongst even the incredibly well known. He became Mr. Universe at the mere age of 20 and then went on to win Mr. Olympiad seven times. This was not enough for him, and he also gained fame in Hollywood and through his political career. 

A peek into McGregor and Arnold’s friendship

Schwarzenegger and the Notorious One share a great bond, and fans have always seen them supporting each other through both hardship and success. When the news of Arnold’s heart surgery hit the news, McGregor took to Twitter and wrote, “What an inspiration and true legend you are Arnold @SchwarzeneggerIt is great to hear you are back in good health my friend.”

Schwarzenegger also considers the Irishman to be one of the best MMA artists the UFC has ever seen. He was all praise for McGregor and said, “Conor is one of the greatest athletes, probably of all time. He has the right combination of the mind and the body and the talent… He’s a great, great athlete, and he’s also a fun guy to hang out with.”

‘Notorious’ announced his retirement from the UFC on June 6, 2020. He broke this news on social media and left millions of fans wishing they could see him in the octagon again. In 2017, McGregor was listed among the Top 100 influential people in the world by Time Magazine. He is undoubtedly one of the most spectacular fighters of all time.
