In a recent media interaction at UFC Media Day, in the lead up to UFC 246, Conor McGregor showed interest in a potential match against Jorge Masvidal. McGregor will face Donald Cerrone in his return fight at UFC 246, inside T-Mobile Arena, Las Vegas. The main-event marks McGregor’s return to the welterweight division. The 170-pound division looks incredible, and with Conor promising a couple more fights at the same weight, there are a lot of interesting fights that can take place going forward.
One of them is certainly Jorge Masvidal. Gamebred had an incredible 2019. He won all the fights in the year and picked up the fastest knockout in UFC’s history when he disseminated Ben Askren in 5 seconds with a flying knee KO. Masvidal was also impressive against Nate Diaz, winning all three rounds of the fight. He was dominant throughout the main event of UFC 244 and showed incredible boxing skills. He won via TKO via Doctor Stoppage when a cut on Diaz’s eye rendered him unable to continue due to Doctor’s decision. However, he showed grit and strength and showed true class as a welterweight title contender.

However, a fight against Conor McGregor is next to none. McGregor can look to go for the UFC gold. But that’s highly unlikely considering he will have to win a couple more fights to get the title opportunity. At 170, McGregor can look to fight Nate Diaz in the trilogy fight, but it would be too soon for Nate Diaz and Conor McGregor to cross paths again. Yes, it has been three years since UFC 202. However, McGregor can still fight a lot of other opponents before the ultimate showdown with Nate Diaz.
