It is no secret that Real Madrid are keen on bringing the highly-rated Eden Hazard to the Santiago Bernabeu this summer having inquired about the Chelsea winger for several months now.

Zinedine Zidane has already confessed his long-standing admiration for the Belgian forward. “I will not give my personal opinion about what may happen because the season has not ended, but I’ve always appreciated him. I’ve seen him a lot since he was playing in France. He’s fantastic”, said Zidane.

The French manager is in Madrid for his second stint at the club, having been recalled after Los Blancos’ forgettable spells under Julen Lopetegui and Santiago Solari this season. Zidane won the Champions League in all three seasons in-charge of Real Madrid before departing from the club last year. The club, along with their manager, also lost their superstar player Cristiano Ronaldo who made a stunning €100 million move to Italian giants Juventus.

Surely it is not a surprise that Real Madrid have had a substandard season following the loss of two of the most influential figures in their dressing room. Sergio Ramos remains a vital personality in the team, but the lack of leadership on other areas of the pitch, and improper man-management by Lopetegui and Solari had adversely impacted them throughout the season.

Real Madrid are a staggering 13 points behind rivals Barcelona in the Primera Division, to whom they embarrassingly lost on three separate occasions this season. They are also eliminated from the Champions League by Ajax, who simply outplayed them in the second leg of their Round of 16 fixture.

The Madrid hierarchy are looking to revamp their squad by bringing in marquee names to fill the huge void left by the departure of Ronaldo. And Eden Hazard, 28, who is slowly entering the prime years of his career, might be the perfect boost to this faltering squad.

The Belgian has consistently been one of the best players in the Premier League in the last decade or so, and has single-handedly carried Chelsea on various occasions. Hazard has won the Premier League twice, the FA Cup and League Cup once, and even the Europa League in his time in England. One trophy which beckons is the Champions League which looks like a far-fetched feat if you’re a Chelsea player currently.

To win a Champions League medal, Hazard needs to go to a club like Real Madrid. It would be greatly similar to how Cristiano Ronaldo switched from Manchester United to Real Madrid back in 2009. The Portuguese made a huge name in England before joining the Spanish giants and won four Champions Leagues, wo La Liga titles and two Spanish Cups. Individually, he won four Ballon D’or awards whilst playing for Real Madrid.

Hazard’s footballing capacity and unmatched talent is a testament of his capability to win the coveted Ballon D’or someday, but his goals and assists have not always been the most staggering. This season, however, we have witnessed an increasingly lethal version of the Chelsea winger. Hazard has the most goal contributions (26) in the Premier League alongside Sergio Aguero, racking up 14 goals and 12 assists.

Chelsea are having a subpar season under their still-adapting manager Maurizio Sarri and the Italian has often turned to Hazard to bail them out of tough situations. After staying in England for seven years, it is perhaps the ideal time for the Belgium national team captain to explore different leagues, having already created havoc in the Premier League with Chelsea and in Ligue 1 with Lille.

Real Madrid are, without a shadow of a doubt, the perfect fit for Hazard. The Belgian will not only eclipse Gareth Bale and Sergio Ramos as the Real Madrid poster boy, but will also be destined for glory at one of the most iconic clubs of this day and age. Real Madrid youngsters Marco Asensio and Vinicius Jr. will also get a golden opportunity to learn from the likes of Hazard, who could easily be considered as one of the best left-wingers of the modern game. And Real Madrid might just be a different force altogether next season.
