Indian captain Virat Kohli has broken a couple of records with his blistering century against West Indies in the second One Day International in the Queen’s Park Oval in Port of Spain on August 11.
Kohli surpassed former India captain Sourav Ganguly to become the second highest run-getter in ODI for India. The only one he has yet to beat is batting maestro Sachin Tendulkar. He has achieved the milestone in the 32nd over when he smashed Jason Holder for a boundary at third-man.
While Ganguly took 311 ODIs to score 11,363 runs, Kohli reached only 238th games. Kohli later scored his 42nd ODI century off 112 balls. Carlos Brathwaite, however, dismissed him after scoring 120.
Soon after Virat Kohli broke his record, Sourav Ganguly took to Twitter and tweeted: “Virat kohli another master class in one day cricket @imVkohli @BCCI .. what a player.”

Along with this, he became the highest run-scorer in ODI against West Indies. Here he surpassed former Pakistan player Javed Miandad, who had a 26-year-old record. He reached the feat while scoring his 19th run by taking a single through the deep backward point in the fifth over.
Miandad took 64 innings to score 1930 against the Windies while Kohli took only 34. This was, however, his 34th ODI against the West Indies while Miandad took 64 matches to score the runs. The other batsmen are- Australia’s Mark Waugh with 1708 runs from 47 matches, South Africa all-rounder Jacques Kallis (1666 runs in 40 matches) and former Pakistan player Rameez Raja (1624 runs in 53 matches).
As soon as he reached all these feats, Twitter started reacting:
