Dwayne Bravo has been picked up in the West Indies squad on Sunday for the upcoming series against Ireland. His selection came more than three years after his last appearance for West Indies. His inclusion will help them build-up to the defence ahead of their World Twenty20 title.
The 36-year-old all-rounder last played for the T20 side against Pakistan in September 2016. After that, he started focusing on franchise cricket. Bravo has played 66 Twenty20 International games for West Indies so far. He has 52 wickets and 1,142 runs in his name as well.

“Dwayne Bravo was recalled with the specific intention of bolstering our ‘death’ bowling which was identified as an area that really needs improving,” said West Indies chief selector Roger Harper.
“His record in this department speaks for itself. He will also be able to act as a mentor to the other ‘death’ bowlers and lend his experience wherever needed,” Harper added.

However, his career has often been controversial too. He last played in the longer format of the game way back in 2010. Bravo even sacked as ODI captain in 2014 after leading a walkout over a pay dispute during India tour. He is a key player of Chennai Super Kings in Indian Premier League.

Along with him, all-rounder Rovman Powell has also recalled in the squad. He has played 23 Twenty20 International games so far. Jason Holder, the regular captain of the team, has been rested for the series after playing the three ODIs against Ireland. The series ended on Sunday.
However, Fabian Allen and Keemo Paul haven’t selected because of injury. West Indies will take on Ireland in the first game in Grenada on January 15. The next two games will take place in St Kitts on January 18 and 19 respectively.
