The 2021 Wimbledon Championships has announced the 32 seeds for Gentlemen’s Singles and the Ladies’ Singles event, starting in a few days. The seeds have come ahead of the draw, which is scheduled for June 25.

Having scrapped the grass-court seeding formula used since 2002, the All England Lawn Tennis Club (AELTC) has now based the seeding on the world rankings.

The 32 seeds for Gentlemen’s Singles at Wimbledon Championships 2021

Seeded No.1, Novak Djokovic would lead the men’s playing field at the upcoming Wimbledon Championships. Having just won his 19th Grand Slam title at the French Open, Djokovic is the favorite to grab a record sixth trophy in London.

After Djokovic, the 2019 US Open finalist, Daniil Medvedev, takes his place as the second-seeded. Since his Wimbledon debut in 2017, Medvedev hasn’t gone beyond the third round.

After the withdrawal of two-time champion Rafael Nadal from the tournament, the Greek tennis star, Stefanos Tsitsipas, has been seeded third.

Following the top three seeds, Dominic Thiem, Alexander Zverev, and Andrey Rublev fill the subsequent spots. The man seeded No.7 is the eight-time Wimbledon champion, Roger Federer, certainly one of the strongest contenders to win the trophy.

Then, in the 8-16 slot, we have Matteo Berrettini, Roberto Bautista Agut, Diego Schwartzman, Denis Shapovalov, Pablo Carreno Busta, Casper Ruud, Gael Monfils, Hubert Hurkacz, and Alex De Minaur. They all have the gun power to knock off higher seeds on grass.

The last 16 seeds are Felix Auger-Aliassime, Cristian Garin, Grigor Dimitrov, Jannik Sinner, Aslan Karatsev, Ugo Humbert, Dan Evans, Lorenzo Sonego, Nikoloz Basilashvili, Karen Khachanov, Fabio Fognini, Reilly Opelka, John Isner, Cameron Norrie, Alejandro Fokina, and Taylor Fritz.

The 32 seeds for Ladies’ Singles

On the women’s side, World No.1 Ashleigh Barty and the defending champion, Simona Halep, are the top two seeds. Post the withdrawal of Naomi Osaka, the Belarusian, Aryna Sabalenka, has been seeded third.

After the top-three seeds, Elina Svitolina, Sofia Kenin, Bianca Andreescu have been subsequently seeded in order. The 7-time Wimbledon champion, Serena Williams, eyeing an elusive 24th Grand Slam title is seeded No.7, and Polish tennis star, Iga Swiatek, is seeded ninth.

Coming to the seeds in the 9-16 bracket, we have Karolina Pliskova, Belinda Bencic, Petra Kvitova, 2017 champion Garbine Muguruza, Victoria Azarenka, Elise Mertens, Barbora Krejcikova, and Maria Sakkari are the subsequent eight.

The final 16 seeds include Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova, Kiki Bertens, Elena Rybakina, Karolina Muchova, Coco Gauff, Ons Jabeur, Jessica Pegula, Madison Keys, Anett Kontaveit, Angelique Kerber, Petra Martic, Johanna Konta, Alison Riske, Veronika Kudermetova, Paula Badosa, and Daria Kasatkina.
