Cameron Brink admitted that Unrivaled made her fall “back in love with basketball.” The 2024 No. 2 pick tore the ACL in her left knee after just 15 games of her rookie season and has been out recovering since. She only returned midway through the 2025 WNBA season. During her welcomed return, she averaged 5.1 points,4.3 rebounds, and 1.4 blocks in 12.4 minutes of playing time. However, it was Unrivaled where Brink started to get into her own. She has now expressed some gratitude to Steph Curry for being such an important part of the league’s boom.
In March 2025, Steph Curry joined Unrivaled as an investor. He contributed to more than $28 million in Series A funding and $7 million in the league’s seed round. The league went on to raise oversubscribed Series B funding, with the valuation landing at $340 million in September 2025. For Brink, playing in a league that is partly owned by someone she grew up with is a “cool full circle moment.”

“I think he’s a girl-dad and he’s always been so supportive of my career and his sister, who played volleyball, and our moms, who both were female athletes,” Brink started in her interview on the ‘We Need To Talk’ Podcast. “So I think he truly knows what it’s like to show up for women and support us.”
Curry has 4 children, of whom 2 are girls. Riley was born in 2012, while Ryan is three years older than her. Curry has encouraged his daughters to play sports, but they haven’t tried competitive sports yet. “We’re all backyard sports right now,” he told PEOPLE in October 2023. “Nothing too organized. We’ve got plenty of time.” Riley is often found cheering for her dad during Golden State games.
Curry has also backed grassroots sports. He committed $50 million to the Oakland Unified School District back in 2023 for healthy meals, better playgrounds, and more school sports participation.

“To play in the league that he’s invested in is a really cool full-circle moment too,” Brink further said. “I grew up seeing him in the spotlight and being such a dominant, iconic figure, and I never thought I would be in the same vein, playing basketball professionally.”
Cameron Brink’s parents, Greg and Michelle Bain-Brink, knew Steph Curry’s parents, Dell and Sonya Curry, since childhood. The relationship eventually led to Curry and Brink becoming god-siblings. They have played an important part in each other’s lives. At the same time, he is one of the greatest basketball players of all time, and Brink is just starting. So, the fact that he believes in women’s sports and Brink by extension is a big deal for her. Now that Unrivaled is over, Brink is looking forward to taking LA back to the top of the WNBA.
Cameron Brink Reveals Bold Goal For Los Angeles Sparks Ahead Of the 2026 Season
Slowly but surely, the Cameron Brink that dominated in her first 14 games as a rookie is coming back. At Unrivaled, she averaged 10.9 points,6.2 rebounds, and 1.8 blocks while playing 11.8 minutes per game. She looks much more fluid, and, more importantly, she is now confident in her body.
“I would say it’s probably one of the best things to ever happen to me, which sounds crazy,” she said. “I really think I just learned so many important and valuable lessons throughout it.” So, the 2026 WNBA season could see Brink coming back to her best. If that is the case, be wary of the Los Angeles Sparks. “I’m just looking forward to, like, competing,” Brink said. “I want to win, and I want to bring LA back to the top of the W.”
Fortunately for Brink, the groundwork at the Sparks has already been laid. With the arrival of Kelsey Plum, the Sparks punched above their weight last season. They made a run for that final playoff spot. Yet, the team eventually finished 21-23 and 9th in the table, one place below the qualification line. They had Plum and Dearica Hamby averaging almost 20 points per game, with Rickea Jackson and Azura Stevens as important supporting pieces.
Add a version of Brink that could potentially be the best rim defender in the league and average in the high 10s, and this could be a roster to be reckoned with. Of course, it will depend on the upcoming free agency and expansion draft, but the Sparks have shown that they are on the right path.
