Wozniacki dispatches Bencic in Beijing

The second seed Caroline Wozniacki has dispatched the Swiss, Belinda Bencic in the opening round of the China Open. The Dane wrapped up a 6-2, 6-3 in one hour and 21 minutes. The Swiss hauled up her ranking to World Number 7 in the 2015 and surpassed Wozniacki four times the same year. Also, their head-to-head is now recorded to be 3-4. In their first meeting, Wozniacki slammed her 6-0, 6-0 in the first round of Istanbul in 2014.

The reigning Australian Open champ was impervious in the entire match and was refusing to give away points. The 2010 Beijing champion, Wozniacki’s first serve was substantially effective, winning her 68% of points.  It was just 44% for Bencic on her own first serves. Nevertheless, neither of the players could exercise control over their serves. Washington and New Haven quarter-finalist’s, the Swiss woman’s unforced errors raised a total of 34 to 22 winners, Wozniacki served out the match to 30 and concluding naturally with a down the line backhand. Wozniacki will now encounter the Croatian tennis player, Petra Martic in the second of the China Open.

In addition to Wozniacki’s victory, the Japanese, Naomi Osaka has also advanced to the second in Beijing. She defeated Zarina Diyas 6-4, 6-3 and Osaka will next face Danielle Collins. “I felt like today was pretty rough,” Osaka told post her match. She felt that she didn’t give her best and play well but really wanted to win. I felt that she (Diyas) probably didn’t play at her best, too, I think we were both just trying to struggle with how to, like, manage the situation.” In the first set, Diyas continued to serve for the first eight games before the Japanese held a decisive break. Anastasija Sevastova advanced as the American,  Madison Keys due to a knee injury. The same issue compelled her to retire against Angelique Kerber last week in Wuhan.
