18-Year-Old Coco Gauff Enroute to Surpass Major Ranking Milestone After French Open Success

It is difficult to imagine that Coco Gauff is only 18 years old. Such has been her performances over the last few years, that she has gone on to become one of the best American players on the women’s circuit. In her very first match at the Wimbledon Championships, Gauff defeated the American legend, Venus Williams, in straight sets.
It was the beginning of something special for the American teenager. Further, Gauff went on to deliver consistent performances in both singles as well as doubles. In the recently concluded French Open, the 18-year-old reached the final before losing against in-form, Iga Swiatek. Owing to her memorable campaign in the clay-court Grand Slam tournament, Gauff is set to achieve a major milestone.

Coco Gauff a win away from entering the top-10 in WTA rankings
The French Open 2022 finalist is in Germany to participate in the Bett1 Open. She has reached the semifinals after defeating Karolina Pliskova in the last eight clash. It was a dominant performance from Gauff and she will make her top 10 debut next week if she wins her semifinal match against top seed, Ons Jabeur.

On the doubles front, Gauff has already made it into the top 10 in the world. She is placed in the fifth spot in the women’s doubles ranking. Earlier this month, she teamed up with compatriot, Jessica Pegula and reached the final of the French Open.

Gauff looking for a partner to play mixed doubles at Wimbledon
Recently, the 18-year-old took to Twitter to ask if anyone was available to partner her in mixed doubles at the Wimbledon Championships. She said, “Who wants to play mixed at wimby?”
Further, in the past, Australian tennis star Nick Kyrgios had expressed his desire to play alongside Gauff, saying, “I have had a lot of amazing mixed doubles partners and Coco Gauff would be the one I would love to play with. I think the crowd would love that.”
