Williams played well at the Slam and even defeated Aryna Sabalenka and Simona Halep there. However, she stood nowhere against the mighty Osaka and lost in straight sets in the semi-final.

Recently, former US President Barack Obama’s wife Michelle Obama praised Serena Williams for her splendid performance at the Australian Open 2021. She also appreciated the 23-time Grand Slam champion for her honesty on and off the court. She posted about Williams on her Instagram and wrote that she has always admired her.

“I’ve always admired the honesty that Serena Williams brings to everything she does. Whether on or off the court, she carries herself with the kind of authenticity you can only tap into if you know exactly who you are and what you deserve.

“It’s clear this next generation of tennis stars, including the sensational Naomi Osaka have taken that example to heart,” wrote Michelle Obama on her Instagram post.

Michelle believes that Serena is a source of great inspiration not just for fans but also for young tennis stars like Naomi Osaka. She also remarked that she would want to continue watching both the players in the future as well.
