There are a number of players who will be returning after quite some time at the Australian Open 2021. One of them is World No. 1 Ashleigh Barty, who will return to the court after almost one year.

The Australian player is currently under the Australian Open bubble in Melbourne. She is practicing under quarantine and looks quite determined to make her comeback. However, she recently committed a huge mistake.

The French Open 2019 winner Barty was caught breaking Melbourne’s strict COVID-19 rules. The incident happened at a Coles supermarket in Melbourne where Barty forgot to wear her mask.

Wearing a mask comes under the strict guidelines of the city, and this was definitely a big mistake by Barty. However, her manager later said that it was an innocent mistake and she would take care of all the rules in the future.

What was even more strange was that Barty herself called on international players to carefully follow the quarantine protocols earlier. She even emphasized that the health of the Victorians should be the utmost priority for all of them.

Can Ashleigh Barty succeed at the Australian Open 2021?

Barty is making a comeback after almost a year, and she is training quite hard. She managed to reach the semis of the Australian Open last year, but Sofia Kenin defeated her in straight sets there. Kenin later went on and won her maiden Grand Slam.

Apart from this, another problem is that she hits the net too often. The Australian player will have to avoid unforced errors from her gameplay and work on keeping the ball inside the court.

As the coronavirus pandemic severely impacted her 2020 season, she’ll certainly hope to win many titles in 2021. The World No. 1 player seems ready and will definitely be starting as one of the favorites in Melbourne.
