Serena Williams tied the knot with Alexis Ohanian and welcomed Olympia in the year 2017. Since then, she is the most important person in her life. The 23 times Grand Slam champion always tries to be a part of Olympia’s activities. Further, speaking about the four-year-old, she is her mother’s biggest cheerleader.

However, tennis is a sport that keeps a player busy the entire year. Therefore, Williams had to carry her around with her on tours. But the places that are not home can be dangerous.

Serena Williams speaks about an unfortunate incident

Recently, while speaking to world-renowned actress and old friend Meghan Markle, Williams opened up about the 2018 French Open incident that still hurts her. She said, “So that year I had Olympia and I had a match the next day. In that night she fell out of her high chair and broke her wrist when she was on my watch and I was just basically devastated. I felt so guilty.”

Thereafter, she added, “We went to the hospital. And she had a small tear, so she had to get a cast and we didn’t get back till like 4 in the morning. This was the one day I was playing early. I remember holding her the whole night and just like rocking her to sleep.” From there to having her cheer from the stands, Williams has come a long way.

Further, speaking of the clay-based Grand Slam. That year she made up to the round of 16 and owing to a pectoral injury, she had to withdraw from the tournament just before a tussle with the Russian Maria Sharapova. However, the injury didn’t affect her much as the former World No.1  made a run to the finals of the next Grand Slam. That is the Wimbledon Championships.

The 40-year-old is ready to say goodbye to the sport and focus on the second set of her life. After making a comeback in London, she broke the news of her retirement. Williams enrolled for Canadian and Cincinnati Masters to oil her skills before the last Grand Slam of her career.
