Chris Evert Cherishes a Monumental Moment With Students at Her Tennis Academy

After touching the highest heights of the sport in her 19 years long career, Chris Evert opted to give it back to the tennis community. With noble thought in place, 7 years after retirement, in 1996, she started the Evert Tennis Academy. Over the years, the academy has acted as a launchpad for a number of budding players.
Carrying forward the legacy of the academy, Evert recently shared another monumental moment with her students. Guiding them to becoming successful players, she recently celebrated the graduation of a bunch of her students from the Academy.

Chris Evert is one of the most active social media entities. Taking to her social media handles, the legendary player gives regular updates to her fans about her personal as well as professional life. In January this year, Chris Evert announced her suffering from cancer. Fighting the health issue, the legendary player underwent chemotherapy sessions for over five months.

Recently, after five months, Evert took to her social media handle to announce the ending of her chemotherapy sessions.
Keeping up the happy mood, Evert yesterday took to her Twitter handle, announcing the graduation of her academy students. Posting a photo of her students in suits and gowns, Evert wrote, “Our beautiful graduating class at Evert Tennis Academy. So proud of these young adults and wishing them onto their next venture- COLLEGE!!!”

Evert Tennis Academy was founded by Chris Evert and her brother John Evert. Set up in Boca Raton, Florida, the academy offers tennis as well as academic programs to its students. Having the coaches in place, the academy has a strong alumnus to its name. Some of the notable players from the academy are Andy Roddick, Madison Keys, and Peng Shuai.

Turning pro in 1970, Evert in no time became a player to look out for. A year on to the tour, Evert reached the semifinals of the 1971 US Open. Making her mark on the tour, she won her first Grand Slam title at the 1974 French Open. The same year, she also won the 1971 Wimbledon.
Over the years, playing tournament after tournament, Evert went on to win a total of 18 singles Grand Slams. Showing her dominance on the doubles side, she also won two grand slams in the doubles format.

Winning a whopping 189 career singles titles, she dominated the WTA rankings as the World No. 1 for a total of 260 weeks. Being one of the most successful players of her time, Evert today is often counted in the list of the greatest of all times.
