The successful career of Serena Williams is undoubtedly a result of her hard work. However, the 23-time Grand Slam champion has had numerous experts by her side over the years. One of them is her former coach, Patrick Mouratoglou. The recent split between the two has left the lobby open to a plethora of questions.

Making a comeback to the tour after a year at the 2022 Wimbledon Championship, Serena yesterday attended the pre-tournament press conference. During the conference, she gave one of the most savage replies to a journalist who questioned her about Mouratoglou.

Going back in time, the French coach joined the camp of Williams back in June 2012. Just after her early French Open exit. Ever since then, the two had been working together. Looking at the stats, Mouratoglou has been the most successful coach in Serena’s career. With the 52-year-old in her camp, Serena won 10 Grand Slam titles, a singles and doubles Olympic gold, and became the World No. 1.

The American legend also won three Wimbledon singles titles and two doubles titles with Mouratoglou as her coach. Recalling that phase, a journalist questioned Serena about her feeling of not having Patrick in her coaching box at Wimbledon for the first time in 10 years.

Serena took no time in saying, “I didn’t even think about it. It feels good. I’m having a wonderful time here. I just didn’t even think about it.”

Following the split with Serena, Patrick is currently working with Williams’ rival, Simona Halep. Getting along during the clay-court season, the two have been working hard to make Halep reach her peak for the Championships. On the other hand, coming back to the tour after a year, Serena is yet to play a singles match. Serena has entered Wimbledon with sister Venus’s coach, Eric Hechtman.
