‘Do Believe Their Potential Is Incredibly Big’- Roger Federer Reveals His Motive Behind the Malawi Project

The 20-time Grand Slam champion Roger Federer has a heart of gold. Federer has always been considerate about the well-being of the future generation. Hence, from advising young tennis prodigies to empowering underprivileged kids, he has done it all. Further, the Swiss tennis legend founded Roger Federer Foundation in 2003 to help disadvantaged kids by providing them access to education and sports. Now, after 18 years, the organization has helped a total of 1,980,000.

Federer has been on the sidelines for quite some time now, owing to his knee injury. However, the former world, no.1, is using his time off the circuit, efficiently. He recently visited Malawi to witness the changes his organization has brought.

Roger Federer Is Using His Time in the Best Way Possible

Federer finally got the chance to meet the children he has been working for so long. Apart from the diplomatic exchange and charitable donations, Roger visited various schools across the rural area of the country and played with the children over there. The CEO of the Roger Federer Foundation, Dr. Janine Handel, said, “A visit from Roger Federer to Malawi can open doors and create new dynamics.”

Further, Federer addressed his visit and said“What I want to do is help. And give the kids here a chance because I do believe their potential is incredibly big. This is why I’m here, to see it for myself so I can then tell the story when I come back to Switzerland.”

The Organization claims currently functions in seven south African countries along with Switzerland. In Malawi, the foundations work towards providing early learning to the children so that they can shape their future on their own.

Thereafter, he spoke about how seeing kids of Malawi have all the necessary electronic aid made him feel content. He admitted, “It’s amazing to see in rural Malawi that we have digital devices. Like the early learning kiosk, making the difference for the children here,”

Federer Is All Set to Make a Comeback

Roger Federer took a break and underwent surgery twice before making a comeback in the 2021 Qatar Open. After his quarterfinals run in Qatar Open, his performance plateaued and his knee started causing problems yet again. Hence, after losing in the quarterfinals of Wimbledon, Federer decided to go under the knife for the third time.

Now, after almost a year, the former world no.1 has announced his comeback. Roger has signed up for the Swiss Indoors Basel 2022. The tournament will commence in October and will hold its first session after two years of being called off due to the pandemic.

Further, Federer has won 10 Basel titles and will be the defending champion in this year’s tournament. However, there are no updates about his participation in the upcoming US Open.
