The biopic ‘King Richard’ has won many hearts since its release; it depicts the journey of Richard Williams, who trained his daughters to be two of the greatest tennis players of all time. Rick Macci, the first coach of the girls, also played a vital part in the incredible success of the Venus and Serena Williams.

During a recent podcast appearance, Macci was asked whether he was paid for the film. In response, he claimed that everything went off without a hitch. The former coach treasured his visits with Venus, Serena, and Richard as well.

Former coach opened up on his pay for the movie

It’s been a month since “King Richard” was released and the movie is already generating Oscar buzz. The performances of Will Smith, who played Richard, and Demi Singleton and Saniyya Sidney who played Serena and Venus, respectively, have been widely praised.

Macci was asked whether he was paid for his role in the movie, which was played by Jon Bernthal, he said, “Yeah. We worked everything out and more than happy so everything turned out well. But what was the icing on the cake is having the movie, reuniting with Venus and Serena. You know the last six years, the story and everything came full circle.”

In the same podcast, Macci also remembered the time when he met Richard Williams because of the movie. He said, “And then I met with Richard and like two weeks ago, I went to West Palm, I hung out for two and a half hours and we are just laughing, he’s in great spirits, his memory is like steal trapped.”

In conclusion, Macci stated, “So the whole thing has put just another explanation point on everything I’ve done in my career so far.”
