Elina Svitolina, the Ukrainian tennis professional, has made quite a name for herself. The right-handed tennis ace has won 16 WTA titles and has held the ranking of World No.3 earlier. Further, she also has had a semifinal run in the Wimbledon Championship and the US Open. Therefore, whenever she speaks, it garners a great deal of attention.
Since February, Svitolina has been vocalizing her thoughts about the crisis in her homeland. It won’t be wrong to say that her active involvement has helped in bringing light to the severity of the matter. Thereafter, she disclosed the fraction she would work on. She wrote, “Ukrainian doctors and paramedics, who risk their lives rushing into the war zones to save lives, need medical supplies and modern equipment. They have my utmost respect, so this is exactly where I am going to focus my activity.”

Further, Svitolina has openly supported the ban Wimbledon imposed as she believes that the silence of these players is having an adverse effect on the ongoing Ukranian crisis. Though the 2019 Wimbledon semifinalist also clarified that she doesn’t hold any ill feelings towards Russian and Belarusian players.
At the same time, Wimbledon will not award any ranking points this year. This has caused further frustration and confusion among players, with some contemplating on skipping the tournament altogether. Many players also have considered Wimbledon to be an exhibition tournament this year because of the absence of ranking points.
