Coco Gauff has had a memorable past few years. In her debut appearance at Wimbledon in 2019, she defeated the legendary Venus Williams. Recently, she received the massive honor of featuring in the cover story for ESPN.

Gauff has been a force to reckon with on the WTA Tour in the past few years. Earlier this year, she reached the final of the French Open before going down against Iga Swiatek in the summit clash. Additionally, she also made it to the last two in women’s doubles, partnering with compatriot Jessica Pegula.

Coco Gauff thrilled as she features on the cover of ESPN

The 18-year-old joined the likes of Serena Williams and Naomi Osaka to feature in the cover story of ESPN. Expressing her gratitude, Gauff took to Twitter and said, “Thank you @espn for allowing me to be this issue’s cover story!”

Asked about why she chose to play tennis, Gauff said, “Tennis spoke to me. I liked being alone on the court. I liked the idea of all the mistakes being on me.”

In the recently concluded Western and Southern Open in Cincinnati, Gauff had an emotional exit as she retired midway during her first-round match against Marie Bouzkova. The American sensation has received an untimely injury setback and will be a doubtful starter at next week’s US Open.

Nonetheless, Gauff will be eager to get back fit in time to play in her ‘favorite’ Grand Slam tournament.
