The former first lady of the USA, Michelle Obama, also gave her tribute to the retiring legend. She uploaded a picture of her meeting with Serena and wrote,

“Serena, thank you for everything that you’ve done to break barriers and to be a positive light in this world. We’ve all watched you wear the crown of greatness with the kind of humility, grace, and integrity that all of us can aspire to.”

Serena to feature one last time in the US Open

As the 40-year-old has declared that it’s going to be her last few weeks as a tennis player, the upcoming US Open will be her last Grand Slam appearance. Over the years, the American has won 23 Major titles. Out of this, six titles came in Flushing Meadows.

Serena hasn’t won a Grand Slam in the last five years. Notably, she is only one title away from equaling the record of Margaret Court for most Major titles.
