Coco Gauff rose to prominence in 2019 when she beat legendary Venus Williams at Wimbledon, just at the age of 15. Almost three years later, the American is currently World No. 17 and has already beaten some of the biggest names in the sport.

Turning pro in 2018, Gauff has been an active player on the tour. However, apart from tennis, Gauff is also an avid basketball fan. Recently, taking out time from her busy tennis schedule, Gauff attended a Boston Celtics game. However, the game soon turned out to be something much more than just a basketball match for her. She got a chance to meet Celtics player, Jason Tatum

Following the game, the teenager indulged in a candid conversation with the Boston Celtics’ VP of Player Development, Allison Feaster. During the conversation, Gauff opened up about how she felt when Jason came to meet her.

Gauff has been highly vocal about her love for Basketball, particularly Boston Celtics for a long time. During her conversation with Gauff, Feaster asked the tennis champion whether she knew Jason Tatum when he came over. Answering the question smilingly, Gauff confessed that she did know but she got nervous. She also confessed that it happens whenever she meets someone she likes. She said, “I knew who he was. I get nervous when I see people I like. I get really anxious.”

During her previous public attractions, Gauff has been highly expressive about her brothers’ love for basketball. As per Gauff, attending the match, Gauff’s brothers had asked her to give her tennis racquet to Aaron Nesmith. However, being in an anxious state, she mistakenly gave the racquet to Jason Tatum.

Elaborating on the instance, she said, “They are like, you got to give the racket to Aaron and for some reason I thought. I have two rackets at home and I brought one to the game today and I thought that I was giving the racket. Then I realized, on no! This is the wrong guy. But I had already handed it to him.”

The American sensation ended by adding a bit of humor touch to her answer, imagining her brother’s reaction to her mistake. “I was like, Oh God!! My brother is never gonna let me live that day. Show him this that I knew who he was. But I got nervous,” she said, as the two ended the candid conversation with a laugh.

On the tennis front, Gauff last played at the Sunshine Double. Entering the Indian Wells Masters as the 16th seed, she suffered a third-round exit. At the ongoing Miami Masters, Gauff went a step further, eventually losing to Iga Swiatek in straight sets at the Round-of-16.
