Over the years, Venus Williams has engraved her name in the history of the sport with her astounding achievements. She has won seven grand slam titles and is a former WTA World No.1.

However, the journey to the top has not been easy for the player, particularly in the last few years due to injuries. Being one of the most experienced players on the tour, the American possesses immense knowledge about the challenges involved in making it to the top. Recently, she provided her insights on being successful on the tour during a question-and-answer session on Instagram.

Venus Williams shares her approach to be successful in tennis

The legendary American responded to a fan question on her Instagram story. Venus was asked, “Can you win if you are only defensive and not attacking?” 

To this, she replied, “I would say you can win a lot of matches, but you won’t win the big matches. Someone else is gonna step up and take it while you are defending. So, if you wanna go big, you have to step a foot forward and attack. It’s the only way.”

The Williams sisters at Wimbledon 2022

Venus Williams has not been active for some time now and her fans were speculating that she would make a comeback at this year’s Wimbledon.

However, she has confirmed her absence from the upcoming Wimbledon Championship. On the contrary, her sister, the 23-time Grand Slam champion, Serena Williams, has confirmed her participation.
