“There’s No Serena Williams Without Venus Williams”: Reilly Opelka Makes Firm Statement on Williams Sisters

Reilly Opelka has made a concrete statement regarding Serena Williams and Venus Williams. He admitted that Serena Williams would not have become the legendary player that he has now become if it hadn’t been for her older sister. He also reflected on Venus’ long successful career.

In a recent talk, World No. 20 made a few statements regarding the Williams sisters. He believes Venus is a very ambitious player and gets “sick” even at the thought of losing. Furthermore, he even stated that without Venus, Serena would not have been the greatest woman player of all time.

He said, “She’s insanely competitive – as fierce as there’s ever been. Absolutely cannot tolerate losing – it makes her sick to think about it. She doesn’t even reflect on her wins. She stays in the moment. If it weren’t for Serena she’d be the greatest woman player of all time. Then again, there’s no Serena without Venus.

Opelka applauded Venus’ determination and focus towards the game. Subsequently, he said that he has learned a lot from the seven-time Grand Slam champion. Opelka also added that he loves her sense of humor and enjoys spending time with her.

Opelka enters the round of 32 at Indian Wells

After having a tough time at Laver Cup 2021, Reilly Opelka has entered Indian Wells with optimism. In the opening round, the American beat Taro Daniel of Japan in a straight-set victory. In the round of 32, he’ll face Grigor Dimitrov.
