Serena Williams is a true legend both on and off the court. While her achievements in tennis need no explanations, she has dived into the business world as successfully as in her tennis career. Like her husband, Alexis Ohanian, Serena is a successful entrepreneur with businesses like Serena Ventures, and S by Serena in her portfolio.

Earlier this week, news surfaced about the comparison of market capitalization of industry leaders, eBay and Amazon. The two companies are in similar businesses. However, their market capitalization has grown at a different rate, which prompted Alexis Ohanian to react on Twitter.

Serena Williams’ husband reacts to the comparison between eBay and Amazon

After 23 years, eBay’s market capitalization has remained unchanged at $25B while Amazon’s $22B market capitalization has grown by almost 50 times. Reacting to this news, Alexis said, “Wow. This is a deep cut.”

Jeff Bezos has seen his fortunes grow multifold over the last years. He is second on the Forbes list of the richest people in the world, with a net worth of $171B. Elon Musk tops the list.

On the business front, Alexis Ohanian is also making the headlines. Recently, his Seven Seven Six foundation pledged $25M for child care initiatives. Further, talking about this, he said, “The Child Care Quality & Innovation Initiative will work on developing and expanding the child care system in NYC, especially in child care deserts where there aren’t enough licensed child care providers.”

Serena to suffer a major blow to her WTA ranking

Coming back to tennis, the 23-time Grand Slam champion hasn’t played a competitive match in almost 11 months. She has been sidelined by the hamstring injury that she suffered during last year’s Wimbledon Championships.

Earlier this month, the WTA stripped ranking points from Wimbledon after its ban on Russian and Belarusian athletes. Hence, Serena is set to lose the points that she earned last season at Wimbledon even if she plays in this year’s tournament. Further, due to her long injury layoff, she will lose all her points after Wimbledon and move out of the WTA rankings.
