Things have not been going well for Venus and Serena Williams’ stepmother, Lakeisha Williams, ever since her separation from Richard Williams. Lakeisha and Richard filed for divorce in 2017, deciding to end their eight-year relationship. Recently, Lakeisha has been going through tough times with her legal battle to save the Williams sisters’ childhood home.

Richard, along with Lakeisha, moved into Serena and Venus’ childhood home in Florida after their marriage. However, in 2017, Richard accused his wife of forging his signature to take his name off the property records. Recently, Lakeisha received a massive blow in her legal battle to save her Florida home.

Serena Williams’ stepmother conceded defeat in her legal battle

According to reports, a few years back, Lakeisha took a loan of $255,000 from David Simon to invest in the trucking business. However, the business failed, and she eventually failed to repay her debt. She even went on to declare bankruptcy to delay the loan repayment, but two out of these three attempts had been rejected.

Recently, she accepted defeat in her legal battle to save her Florida mansion. The property will be sold to settle her loan amount, which now stands at $513,213, including interest.

However, David Simon, from whom Lakeisha loaned out the amount, has pushed for the mansion to be sold due to its crumbling nature. The property is in a state of despair, with problems such as a heavily leaking roof, which Simon claims to be uninsurable. This is the only asset that could repay Simon’s debt.

Recently, the 23-time Grand Slam champion released her book ‘The Adventures of Qai Qai.’ It is based on her daughter’s famous doll, Qai Qai.

Explaining the message that the book gives out, Serena said, “You can do anything. I think a lot of the times people aren’t told as much that you can do anything. Definitely all girls aren’t told that you can do anything.”

Further, she added, “It’s like you can be a princess and you can do that but it’s like ‘no, you can really do anything you want,’ and I think it’s important for everyone to hear that message.

After her retirement, Serena has been busy with her business ventures and spending quality time with her family. Recently, she attended Alice in Chains concert with her sister, Venus.
