When asked about keeping a good headspace for the next few weeks, she said, “Yeah, for me, I’m like having like weekly check-ins with my therapist, and then just talking to my friends more, I would say. Granted, they are also busy, so yeah, just trying, I guess, not to — and also, I feel like I’m exploring the city more.”

“Last year in Madrid I didn’t really do anything. I was just in the hotel room. Now I’m kind of like walking around. I found this really cool area that has a lot of vintage stores and sneaker stores. So I thought it was cool. Yeah, I guess trying to appreciate the place that I’m in more,” she further added.

Last year, the Japanese star played in both Madrid and Rome before the French Open. In Madrid, she lost in the third round and lost her very first match in Rome as well. Then, she withdrew from the French Open after the first round, as she didn’t want to conduct any interviews.

This year, she is currently playing in the Madrid Open and is planning to play in Rome next. Paris will be the next destination for her, as she is aiming for a better result at the Roland Garros this season. Today, she will play her second clay-court match of the season, against a Spaniard, Sara Sorribes Tormo.
