Coco Gauff, the American tennis professional, revealed her patriotic side yesterday. After ending her tennis season, she geared up to cheer for the US Men’s National Team (USMNT) in the ongoing FIFA World Cup. 

Gauff has had a successful year and will eye her career’s first Grand Slam in the upcoming Australian Open. But before that, she decided to show her fangirl side during the US national team’s match against England. Here’s a clip of her and her younger brother getting ready for the match.

Coco Gauff supports the USMNT in the FIFA World Cup

The 2022 French Open runner-up took to TikTok to share her excitement about the match and wrote, “Us getting hype for the USA vs England today.”

Thereafter, she disclosed, “We have never watched a soccer match in our life.” The soccer World Cup is currently is in its group stage. The USMNT, after their clash with Wales, locked horns with England on Saturday and the score ended at a 0-0 tie.

Speaking of Gauff, her latest run came on the hard courts of the WTA Finals. She made a historic entry into the tournament but faced a straight-set defeat against the World no.1 Iga Swiatek.

Gauff’s record against Iga Swiatek 

The American is one of the most prominent players in the upcoming generation. She touched the headlines at just the age of 15 by defeating the seven-time Grand Slam champion and former World no.1 Venus Williams. Thereafter she, showing steady growth, entered the WTA Tour, and this season claimed a career-high ranking of World no.4. However, the American sensation has come up short time and time again when the Polish tennis ace, Iga Swiatek, is her opponent.

The 21-year-old has squared off with Gauff five times and has a lead of 5-0. This year, she outclassed her four times, including Gauff’s first ever appearance in a Grand Slam final at the French Open. Further, Gauff has never taken a match against Swiatek to the third set. She has always faced straight-set defeats.
