Professional wrestling has evolved drastically over the years. The style and workings of a match, too, are way different that what one did a decade or two decades ago. Few wrestlers are keeping up with the good old style of pro wrestling, including Dax Harwood and Cash Wheeler – #FTR.

Jim Ross criticizes some AEW Wrestlers

Jim Ross provided his thoughts on the diving moves wrestlers execute these days in the latest Grilling JR podcast. He also spoke about wrestlers kicking out of moves that were once finishers. He expressed concern and wanted to know when these moves lost their credibility.

“I told a kid the other day in AEW, I said ‘all you guys do the same f**king spot. You go to the outside, you cluster up like quail, you stand together friend and foe side-by-side so you can catch some leaping idiot going over the top who never wins with this move. They never gain an advantage with this move.”

“You know the ‘Holy sh*t’ chants is what got that going I think. They love to hear it, ‘holy sh*t, holy sh*t’ – ‘this is awesome.’ It’s a spot, folks, it’s a trapeze act.

Dax Harwood stands up for JR

Some in the AEW roster did not receive Ross’s comments kindly. Wrestling News reported the veteran commentator now has backstage heat from AEW wrestlers for burying them like that.

One talent who didn’t disclose his identity said he respected JR, but with him burying the talent that he’s supposed to put over like that, no one would listen to his advice.

Dax Harwood of the FTR took to Twitter and sent a message to all those who couldn’t take up criticism to better their game.

Dax Harwood and FTR’s stance has always been ‘No Flips, Just Fists’ from their NXT days, so it is a no brainer that Harwood agrees with JR.

Plus, critics have pointed out that wrestling matches these days are more of a spot fest than storytelling. The superkick party and all is great, but never forget Shawn Michaels and his opponents sold it as a top finisher.

Wrestlers worked the crowd, but it seems like the crowd is controlling the wrestlers these days. Even a leg drop from Hogan got a loud pop back in the day. Today, there’s one suicide dive, three superkicks, and a bunch of combos in every match on the card.
