Dwayne Johnson will always be the most electrifying WWE superstar to ever step foot in professional wrestling. Besides an electrifying entrance to which the crowd would go wild, his promos were out of the world. The superstar lived up to his words with multiple big moments in his matches.

Over the years, many professional wrestlers across the business have tried to reach the level of The Rock, but very few have succeeded. Others have been labeled as copies. 

AEW star Ricky Starks appeared on the PWI podcast where he shared his frustrations with people calling him out for copying The Rock. The similarities between Dwayne Johnson and Starks are in their similar way of dressing on Live Shows.

Starks said, “The Rock isn’t the only guy that knows how to dress, they’re so used to people in basketball shorts and in their own merchandise shirts that they can’t fathom somebody coming on-screen dressing in a turtleneck and some nice slacks, you know what I’m saying? It’s the most bizarre thing, I don’t mind the comparison. It’s when people say verbatim, ‘yeah, he’s just stealing The Rock’.”

It bothers Starks when people do not understand his originality. The FTW Champion thinks wrestling fans have already formed a perception and anyone similar to that will face comparisons.

Why is AEW Superstar Ricky Starks Being Compared to The Rock?

He is certainly not a big fan of everyone comparing his style with The Rock. Starks, who stated he has never tried to copy The Rock since becoming a wrestler, never studied the promos of ‘The Great One’. He claims that everything he does is from his own original ideas.

AEW star Ricky Starks, in one of his recent podcast appearances, claimed he does not like to be compared to Dwayne Johnson. Although, there are some similarities between them as per the FTW Champion.

He said, “But in terms of comparisons, ya know, looks-wise? I actually don’t mind it. Me and The Rock are both handsome individuals and you can’t say that a lot for some of the fans who try to talk trash, so.”

Ricky Starks respects the WWE Legend and has stated multiple times in the past about him being an original. Some fans may find minor similarities, but as per Starks, what he is doing in the ring today completely differs from The Rock.
