WWE NXT and AEW Dynamite went at it again in the fight for the ratings on Wednesday nights. After a two week slump, NXT put on a very good show.
AEW Dynamite had AEW World Tag Team champions Kenny Omega and Hangman Adam Page in action. In addition, AEW also advertised a State of the Industry address by MJF.
The show was headlined by a tag team match with Jon Moxley and Darby Allin teaming up against Brian Cage and Ricky Starks.

Dynamite also saw two surprise appearances and debuts from former WWE Superstars Matt Cardona and Ariane.
NXT had two of its most skilled superstars going against each other. Johnny Gargano defeated Roderick Strong in this evenly contested match.
The Black and Gold brand also saw the return of Adam Cole and all four members of the Undisputed era together. Kyle O’Reilly was seen giving a speech of motivation to bring back the old and destructive Undisputed Era.
The main event was a high-profile Triple Threat match between Finn Balor, Timothy Thatcher, and Dexter Lumis. Lumis won the match, moving on to the North American Championship Ladder Match at NXT TakeOver XXX.

WWE NXT show a huge improvement in ratings
John Pollock published the ratings of the latest edition of the Wednesday Night War. AEW Dynamite had an 8.5% decrease in total viewership from last week. AEW came in at No. 6 in the 18-49 demographic.
WWE NXT garnered a 15% increase in viewership from last week. NXT came in at No. 28 in the key 18-49 demographic. Here is the official viewership of both shows.

After the poor showing for the past two weeks and their annual meeting, NXT has pulled up their socks. Until now, NXT and AEW were the lone warriors to win the battle of the ratings. However, now it is more than just a two-way horse race.

NBA and Baseball are returning after their corona break. NBA is one of the biggest sport leagues in America. The return of these sports will not only hamper NXT and AEW separately, but it will affect the wrestling business in general.
