The TV ratings for Wednesday nights are in and NXT fans have been treated with some amazing news. After weeks of being dominated by AEW Dynamite, The Black and Gold Brand has achieved its highest TV ratings number of 2020.

As per Bryan Alvarez, NXT drew in a total of 853,000 viewers. This is a significant rise from last week which saw only 619,000 viewers logging in.

However, there’s a small nuance in the entire scenario that undermines this achievement. There was no AEW Dynamite this week due to the NBA Playoffs acquiring prime time space on TNT! As a result, AEW will be airing on Saturday nights this week.

Regardless of that, it will be criminal to take anything away from the Triple H led brand. These numbers are the highest it has achieved since its Novemeber 20, 2019 episode.

In addition, the show was good enough to deserve a significant amount of attention.

NXT saw some amazing segments

The biggest attraction of this week’s episode was the segment between Adam Cole and Pat McAfee. The former NFL punter delivered a killer promo and showcased why a wrestling genius like Triple H rates him highly.

Adam Cole was characteristically brilliant as he promised to destroy McAfee at Takeover. His beatdown on the security officials was also a nice touch.

In addition to this confrontation, the in-ring action was breathtaking as usual. Johnny Gargano defeated Ridge Holland to progress to the North American Championship ladder match at Takeover. The second qualifier saw The Velveteen Dream score an upset victory over Finn Balor after interference from Timothy Thatcher.

The Women’s division also witnessed some storyline progression. Dakota Kai stepped up to the plate by targeting Women’s Champion Io Shirai.

All in all, NXT utilized the competition less week by putting its best foot forward. They wanted to convince the extra viewers who logged in to switch to USA Network on Wednesday Nights. Only time will tell whether they were successful in this endeavor.
