It’s been almost five years since John Cena broke up with WWE Hall of Famer Nikki Bella. The power couple was the highlight of WWE while they were dating. However, even after their break up Cena is thankful to Bella for bringing one major change in him. The Peacemaker star claims this was one of the best things that happened to him.

Four years ago, John Cena sat for an interview with Playboy, where he opened his heart out while talking about Nikki Bella. Cena and Bella were engaged at the time and he stated she changed him personally and emotionally.

Cena said he was in “a real selfish place” emotionally before he met the Bella twin. This he said with a smile of joy while referring to his ex-fiance for changing him.

Furthermore, ‘The Cenation Leader’ added, “I was a stubborn b**tard when we started dating. She’s turned me into a better man. There’s no other way to say it. I thought I had it pretty good when I took her on our first date. It turns out I did not.”

The 16-time world champion and the former Divas Champion dated for over five years. Cena surprised Bella at WrestleMania 33 by proposing to her in the middle of the ring after their mixed tag team match against The Miz and Maryse.

They published this interview with Playboy in April 2018, a couple of months ago, Cena and Bella announced their breakup. Anyhow, even though they separated, the couple had some of the most beautiful moments in their life. A few of them are on the WWE reality show Total Divas.

A year after breaking up Bella started dating her Dancing with the Stars partner Artem Chigvintsev and got hitched in 2022. Meanwhile, Cena dated his current wife Shay Shariatzadeh with whom he got married in the year 2020.

Cena and Bella were a competitive couple while dating back then. They often had many athletic and other types of challenges between themselves, which is on Total Divas. Similarly, in of the episodes of the WWE reality show, Bella challenged the Peacemaker star.

She challenged Cena to a race to see who’s fast. Cena said, “You are not even strong”. Bella replied, “Excuse me! (Flexing her biceps) Do you think these just come like this?”

However, after some more conversation, the AGT judge added, “Let’s do it unless you are scared.” Cena replied, “I don’t wanna embarrass you.” The AGT judge interjects, “You will not embarrass me. I’ll embarrass you. You are gonna be beaten by a girl.”

After listening to this comment Cena said, “Oh shoot…”. He sat having a shocked face while the former Divas Champion and their gym trainer laughed at the WWE legend.
