Dwayne Johnson‘s Black Adam has garnered more attention outside the theatres than it did when the movie was released in October 2022. DJ had promised that his movie will change the hierarchy at DC and usher in a new era.

But things have fallen flat. The Rock did a lot to promote Black Adam and even got Henry Cavill back as Superman for a cameo in the film.

Cavill announced his return to the franchise but it was announced he was no longer a part of DC’s future in a shocking u-turn. This was followed by Johnson also sharing that he will step away from DC at least for the time being.

However, if that was a twist, Warner Bros.’s latest move is even more baffling. They have released a new collection of DC Universe movies that feature DJ’s Black Adam and Cavill’s Man of Steel (2013) in a two-film bundle.

The move comes after both actors are done with the franchise for the foreseeable future. Fans online called out DC for once again being out of touch and criticized them for this move.

Fans lash out at “pointless” DC move involving Dwayne Johnson

For years DC fans have complained that they haven’t gotten what they wanted from the studios. In fact, such is the chaos at DC studios and Warner Bros. that the fans may feel that they have been deliberately antagonized following this move.

The Warner Bros. wasn’t too happy after Dwayne Johnson claimed that he had to fight to get Henry Cavill back as Superman, something that the fans have wished for years.

This led to speculation that Cavill may return for a Man of Steel sequel after being on the sidelines for so long. But immediately afterward it was announced that Cavill won’t return as Superman and new DC bosses James Gunn and Peter Saffran are rebooting the franchise.

Then weeks later DJ also announced that he won’t be part of the immediate DC plans seemingly bringing the curtain on his Black Adam role. Both these moves left the fans confused and disappointed after they thought Cavill was returning as Superman.

Now after a few weeks, Warner Bros. released a two-film bundle featuring Black Adam and Man of Steel on the Microsoft Store.

What makes this strange is that this bundle was released a day after James Gunn announced that Cavill would no longer play Superman.

With both Cavill and The Rock headed for DC exit doors, the timing of this movie bundle release made little sense to the fans. Many fans took to Twitter to criticize DC over this. One fan wrote, “This is so pathetic”. Another angry fan commented, “This is a slap in the face.

Fans also believed pairing Black Adam with Superman didn’t make sense for story purposes as well.

It is likely that Warner Bros. planned to release this movie bundle way before Black Adam hit the screens. Still, it is surprising to see them actually go through with this given the recent slew of changes at DC.

For now, the fans aren’t too pleased with DC further rubbing salts in their wounds. Fans clamored to see Cavill return as Superman for a long time.

They were given hope by the former WWE Champion, Dwayne Johnson. But in a hugely unpopular decision, it was completely snuffed out. And now this recent move has done little to reaffirm the faith of the fans in the management at DC and Warner Bros.
