The AEW promotion’s rating recently hit the one million mark in viewership, which is good for a new promotion. All Elite Wrestling started in 2019 and has been making news since then. Recently the CM Punk backstage controversy brought the promotion to the highlight again.
Despite the popularity AEW has received over a short period, wrestling veteran Jim Cornette doesn’t consider the promotion a threat to WWE. In his recent YouTube video, WWE manager Jim Cornette talked about the comment Triple H made about AEW.

During his recent interview with Ariel Helwani, Triple H was asked if WWE closed the NXT last year as a punishment for not defeating the AEW in ratings. Hunter said, “They beat our development system good for them. There was never even a pressure like you have to beat that(AEW). It was never that. We’re just putting the best product we could.”

Triple H denied that Vince McMahon canceled the NXT last year for their low ratings compared to AEW. The former WWE manager Jim Cornette also agrees with Triple H. But, Cornette explained the real reason why Vince McMahon canceled NXT.

Cornette explained in his recent video that Vince McMahon could’ve easily dealt with the AEW but Mac Daddy never considered the promotion as a threat to WWE. “If Vince McMahon had really wanted to wage a full-on war and put them out of business, every WWE Superstar was available to pop into NXT. We never saw Roman Reigns wander into the NXT program. It was a way to put a stumbling block in the path of this new upstart promotion,”

According to Jim Cornette, the real reason behind dismantling the NXT was that it wasn’t up to the standard of WWE. “Vince didn’t dismantle NXT because they didn’t beat AEW in the ratings–that was just to give them some aggravation and to keep a few hundred thousand people from watching AEW. Vince dismantled NXT because he went down there and saw a bunch of f***ing Johnny Garganos!”
