Batista Opens up on the Time He Suffered a Wardrobe Malfunction Before His Entrance at WWE Royal Rumble 2014

The 2014 Royal Rumble is one of the most controversial Rumble matches in recent history. Daniel Bryan whipped the fans into a frenzy in the opening match. However, his absence from the Royal Rumble caused the crowd to turn on eventual winner Batista.

What fans do not know is that Batista had to deal with another serious problem before he won the Rumble match.

Batista suffered a wardrobe malfunction before 2014 Royal Rumble

A wardrobe malfunction is one of the most embarrassing things that can happen to a wrestler. Batista was one of the unlucky Superstars to suffer one before a huge match like the Royal Rumble. The ‘Animal’ describes his experience backstage as he struggled to get his boots fixed in a race against time.

“I have a new style of boot so it’s kind of a lighter boot, and the zipper breaks”.

Michael Cole’s voice can be heard in the background, announcing #16, who was The Great Khali. Stephanie McMahon also arrived to scan the situation, as the gear makers were working on Batista’s boot.

“So they start sewing up my boot. And I’m going out number 28 in the Rumble, and I’m sitting there watching the monitor as they’re sewing my boot up and they’re already on number 22.”

The late Jon Huber, aka Luke Harper, was #22 in the match.

The Animal ended up winning the Rumble match

“You know it was chaotic, but it just seemed like old times because every time we are getting ready for a show everything goes wrong, man. And then you end up running from here to there and just nothing is going right.”

Batista even ended up going the wrong way. And it is shocking when you realise that he actually won the match.

“The biggest thing I was concerned about was not being able to warm up ’cause I was still working with an injury and I knew I had to run in to the ring and I wasn’t sure how I was gonna feel.

He did a quick thirty-second warm up as his number came up and then won the Rumble match.

It is startling to think that Batista went from messing up his shoe to working with an injury and without warming up, to winning the Royal Rumble. It almost makes the reaction he got to winning unwarranted.
