WWE NXT Champion Io Shirai makes a Huge Announcement
On the latest episode of WWE Friday Night SmackDown, Stephanie McMahon put Bayley on the spot and has left in her in a complete fight for her gold. McMahon announced that Bayley would indeed have to defend her title at SummerSlam and has made things very hard for the Champion.
The fight, according to Stephanie’s stipulation, will be a Triple-brand Battle Royale. The winner of this would be the number one contender and would fight Bayley at SummerSlam with the SmackDown Women’s Championship on the line.

This came as quite a shock to the “Golden Role Models” as they now realize they could both go home with nothing at SummerSlam. Well, at least they’d have their tag team titles.
The angle behind this stipulation is that the best challenger from all three main rosters will face Bayley at SummerSlam. The Champion will have to prove her mettle once more.
In a recent post on Twitter, WWE asked fans to decide the representative of each brand in the Battle Royale. A lot of names came up, but two Superstars replied, throwing their hats into the ring to be considered.

These two were none other than the NXT Women’s Champion Io Shirai, and Mia Yim. Both these Superstars are from NXT and are looking to make their fortune bigger still.

WWE could give a Superstar the needed push through the opportunity
This opportunity would be perfect for Shirai, as WWE looks to push her big time. Triple H also expressed this intention earlier by calling her one of the best talents in the WWE Women’s Division.
However, her title at NXT would not permit this, so winning would probably be out of the question. Although, she will most probably be participating. Mia Yim, on the other hand, is a very viable candidate and will surely be considered.

However, fans have mentioned the names of Shotzi Blackheart and Tegan Nox repeatedly in the comments section, and WWE will probably act that way. There’s also the main faces like Rhea Ripley who may enter the fight.
While these two NXT Superstars have made their intentions clear, we still await the response of Raw and SmackDown Superstars, who may also want a free chance at a title shot.

The result may spell the end of the dominant era for the “Golden Role Models”. It will for one be the most satisfying content to watch, and a lot of things could happen at SummerSlam, for better or for worse.
