“The choice was between me and Roman Reigns”- WWE Superstar Details a Huge Missed Opportunity

For years now, Big E has been touted as one of the brightest prospects in the WWE. However, a number of reasons have denied him the spotlight that he truly deserves. If the success of The New Day prevented his singles run in the last few years, his initial push was scrapped because of Roman Reigns!
As the story goes, WWE was looking to create their next breakout star with John Cena venturing out into Hollywood. The company saw two options that ticked all the boxes – Roman Reigns and Big E Langston.

Unfortunately for Big E, his character was still undercooked at that time (some might say the same about Roman). Hence, Roman was chosen and the rest as they say, is history.
In an interview with TalkSport, Big E revealed that even he thought that Roman was more deserving than him.
“There was a point – and I don’t know if this was a thing – but there was a rumour that the choice was between me and Roman and they were kind of deciding [who to push].
“To me, Roman made so much sense – look at him! You can say what you want about him, but look at the guy.”
Big E believes that now he is as ready as Roman Reigns
“I’ve been in the ring with him and he’s incredible, he gets so much love. I don’t think I’ve ever seen anyone say ‘I didn’t enjoy working with him’ or ‘I didn’t think he was good in the ring.’ If you’ve been in the ring with [you’d know] he deserves the spot he got!
“So six or seven years ago, it wouldn’t have made sense [for me to get the push] and I wasn’t ready for it then. Now I feel so much more comfortable as a performer, as a promo and in my character – and unabashedly being myself. I feel capable of being whatever this run is going to be.”

Big E has recently embarked on a singles run in the WWE. This came after both his New Day buddies were sidelined due to injuries. So far, he has been made to look like a powerhouse. However, it’s still too soon to make a judgement.

WWE has been teasing a feud between him and Sheamus. You can expect Big E to go over and aim for bigger and better things. While many think that he’ll target AJ Styles snd the Intercontinental Championship, he might surprise everyone by getting into the Universal Championship picture.
