“The Fiend” Bray Wyatt made an appearance on WWE on FOX’s Instagram post earlier today. This confirmed that the beloved character would indeed be returning once more to terrorize WWE.

Speaking of “The Fiend”, on this day last year, the character made its horrifying debut in the WWE Universe. Finn Bálor was only engaging with the audience when his theme song slowed down to nothing.

The lights went off and soon we heard what sounded like a tussle. Everyone wanted to know what was happening. Soon enough, the lights flickered briefly on the ring to reveal a monstrous face.

The light then came back on for good, and the crowd brought their eyes towards this masked figure holding Finn Bálor in place for a Sister Abigail. Everyone knew it was Bray Wyatt through this as he proceeded to deliver his finisher on Bálor.

The look on the mask was pure genius and it was a given that WWE had found something special up their sleeve. “The Fiend” really looked great and everyone was waiting to see where it would go.

Bray Wyatt wasn’t allowed to get the most out of “The Fiend”

However, WWE did not do the character justice, at least as much as it should have. Winning the Universal title from Seth Rollins in an epic Falls Count Anywhere Match, “The Fiend” seemed to be the next big thing.

However, his run was abruptly halted by Goldberg at Super Showdown. Goldberg attempted to quickly finish off Bray Wyatt with an early spear. He went on to deliver several more spears before ending his opponent with the Jackhammer.

Apart from a couple of Mandible Claw attempts, “The Fiend” was dominated. His powerful aura had disappeared after being manhandled by Goldberg and the crowd just couldn’t look at him the same again.

The character was since dropped, and we got to see the psychotic Bray Wyatt again, at least till Money in the Bank this year, where he lost to Braun Strowman.

We hope to see “The Fiend” at its best again when Wyatt faces Strowman. Hopefully, WWE saves this great character from the depths of  “What could have been” and salvage the wreck against Goldberg.
