BREAKING: Randy Orton and Edge to Rekindle Their Rivalry as They Enter the Royal Rumble at #1 and #2

WWE Backstage made a stunning return with Renee Young, Paige and Booker T at the helm. The first big news that broke from the return of the event are the #1 and #2 entrants in the Royal Rumble match.

WWE will renew the biggest and ugliest rivalry of 2020, as Randy Orton and Edge will begin the Rumble match at #1 and #2, respectively.

Randy Orton and Edge had a heated rivalry that highlighted Monday Night Raw from the Royal Rumble to Payback. The legends fought in two pay-per-view matches which were brutal, yet brilliant.

Edge’s run wasn’t the best, but pitting him against the ‘Viper’ provided fans with great wrestling and an absorbing storyline.

Orton’s rivalry with the Fiend is far from over, but WWE’s decision to thrust him into an angle with Edge is smart. The storyline with the Fiend should’ve ended with Alexa Bliss eating an RKO, which will lead to a potential WrestleMania cinematic match between the two. As for the Royal Rumble, the further Wyatt or Bliss stay from Orton, the better.

Edge announced his entry into the Royal Rumble on Raw, wanting to reclaim what he supposedly never lost. He relinquished the World Heavyweight Championship in 2011 after being forced to retire because of neck surgery. Could Edge be talking about reclaiming the title he never lost, or is there something else in the Rated-R Superstar’s eyes?

Can Edge and Orton go the distance?

Unless for some lame double elimination, or Brock Lesnar returning and tossing them over the top rope, Edge and Randy Orton should be making the distance in the Rumble match.

Both men are individual stars of the match type and have won it before too. Last year, Orton and Edge added a layer of legitimacy in the final four, opposite a young pair of Drew McIntyre and Roman Reigns.

Orton’s feud with The Fiend means winning the Royal Rumble is out of the question. Randy is not an exciting WrestleMania opponent anymore, even though he’s stayed relevant throughout the 2010s. Edge is a favourite to win the Rumble match and has two dream opponents to face at WrestleMania.
