Bret Hart is one of the most prominent wrestlers from the WWE’s attitude era. However, he has been compared to Hulk Hogan since his professional debut. If you don’t know, Chief Jay Strongbow made fun of Hitman for being excessively ambitious early in his career, since Hart felt he may someday achieve Hogan’s level of fame.

Recently, WWE Hall of Famer Ted DiBiase discussed the career of Hart and noted that, although being a great wrestler, Hitman never achieved the caliber of the Hulkster.

In a recent interview with Kenny McIntosh for Inside Ropes Magazine, DiBiase stated, “I don’t really know. I will put it this way: I have all the respect in the world for Bret Hart. We only had a couple of matches together, and they were great—he was a great wrestler. But Bret did not have the same charisma.”

The Million Dollar Man respects Hitman’s contribution to sports as much as anybody. He too thinks he was a great wrestler, but in his opinion, he didn’t achieve Hulkster’s level of stardom.

Moreover, he offers an explanation for his opinions. He stated, “Bret is average size, Hogan is like 6’8″, blonde, great body, and was great on the microphone. Bret’s work in the ring was great and came across as very believable, but I don’t think Bret Hart, like myself, became as big of a star as Hulk Hogan. [H/T: Inside the Ropes]

When Hart initially won the WWE title in 1992, most of the WWE crew believed he would never be able to match Hogan and his charismatic ring. However, he succeeded in becoming one of the greatest in the ring. They are unquestionably two of the finest wrestlers who rose to fame in the 1980s and 1990s.

Hogan, however, outclassed Hart and savagely attacked Hart’s leg in the second part of the fight. Sting and the nWo Wolfpac interfered to save Hart. Consequently, the contest concluded without a victor.
