Brutal Neck Injury Puts 36-Year-Old WWE Star’s Career in Jeopardy

Recently, some top WWE stars like Randy Orton and Cody Rhodes have been out of action because of injuries. These injuries to Orton and Rhodes have disappointed fans. But this is not the first time this year that fans got disappointed following an injury to a WWE star.

Earlier this year, former WWE Champion Big E suffered a neck injury, fracturing his C1 and C6 vertebrae. Following the injury, Big E had been giving updates about his condition at intervals. Recently, he gave another update on his recovery.

In a Twitter post, The New Day member noted, “Update! My C1 isn’t ossifying (forming bone) quite yet. The current plan is to get more scans at the one year mark & see how it’s progressing.” However, at the end of his post, Big E mentioned that the surgery was off the table.

But following this update from Big E, it is almost certain fans will have to wait for quite some time before they can see Ettore Ewen (Big E’s real name) in action again. Prior to suffering the injury, Big E reunited with Kofi Kingston and had been competing in tag team matches.

Though the fans love to see him in matches alongside Kingston and Xavier Woods, fans also wanted WWE to extend his singles run. In the later stages of 2021, Big E got a massive push. In September 2021, he cashed in his Money in the Bank contract to defeat Bobby Lashley to win his first WWE Championship.

The New Day member made some successful title defenses. But he lost the title to Brock Lesnar at the WWE Day 1 Premium Live Event.

Big E is one of the most loved individuals in WWE. He is certainly an entertainer. But he has also proved himself as a champion inside the squared circle. During his WWE career so far, he went toe-to-toe against some of the top stars.

Now, coming to his championship achievements. The New Day member is a former WWE Champion and a former NXT Champion. Apart from these two championships, he also won the WWE Intercontinental Championship twice, WWE Raw Tag Team Championship twice, WWE SmackDown Tag Team Championship six times, and the Men’s Money in the Bank match (2021).
