There is nothing that makes wrestling fans more attached to the business than nostalgia. As a community, we love to latch on to the glory days of our past. If nothing, it makes for some amazing anecdotes for the younger generation. One era of wrestling that makes us the most nostalgic is the Summer of CM Punk.

Highlighted by some classics between him and John Cena, as well as his famous Pipe Bomb promo, Punk made wrestling relevant once again. Fans who had deserted the business after Austin left were coming back in hordes.

That was until the inevitable happened. Punk, who was rebellious by nature, left the WWE alleging mistreatment by the company as well as medical negligence.

This would lead to a protracted lawsuit as well as an alternative career route for Punk in the UFC. However, both of those would eventually go down the gutter. Since then, Punk has showed renewed interest in professional wrestling.

He has joined Fox as an analyst for WWE Backstage. However, a return to the ring is what the fans are after. Fortunately for them, the voice of the voiceless might soon have some plans in the pipeline.

CM Punk hints at a return to the ring

He answered by writing “TBD”. Even then, it would take a lot of reading between the lines to consider this an announcement. For the straight edge superstar is rather well-known to play around with these rumors.

He had recently declared that the only thing which could attract him back to the business was the prospect of having a match with John Cena, Daniel Bryan, Rey Mysterio, and Will Ospreay.

Punk has had epic rivalries with the first three superstars. However, he has not faced The Aerial Assasin in a wrestling ring. Infamous for working well with high-flying superstars, it would undoubtedly make for a great match.

Sadly, you need to take all these rumors with a pinch of salt. The Cookie Master has repeatedly declared that he is done with wrestling. It would only take something very drastic for him to ever consider this decision seriously.
