Almost everyone that loves CM Punk today, has been influenced to some degree by Punk’s iconic pipe bomb promo and the Summer of Punk that followed it.

However, many tend to forget that CM Punk was always a legitimate in-ring competitor and he was making waves in the WWE long before his defining moment. His rivalries with Jeff Hardy, Edge and Rey Mysterio were quality content which have now become a little obscure due to all the success Punk achieved afterwards.

That was also the time when CM Punk looked drastically different. He used to sport long, flailing hair which was an ode to his rebellious persona.

The Straight Edge Superstar used this aspect in many of his rivalries. However, a feud with Rey Mysterio would completely change the trajectory of Punk’s career.

After a very personal back and forth that saw CM Punk interfere with Mysterio’s daughter’s birthday ceremony, the two would face off in a Hair vs. Mask match.

Mysterio would win resulting in CM Punk losing his beautiful hair. The Cult of personality was terrified of his baldness and began wearing a mask to hide it from the world.

Of course, WWE would milk this situation to the fullest. In a not so interesting feud with The Big Show, the mask worn by Punk would become a focal point.

The Big Show vowed to bring out the ‘ugly’ face of CM Punk in front of the whole world.

The Big Show would be successful in unmasking Punk on an episode of SmackDown. The terrified face of Punk while The Big Show forces him to show his face is one of the most hilarious WWE images you will see.

Punk decided to reply to a Twitter account that recalled this moment. To add to the fun, Punk indicated that Show was angry with him because the two looked almost identical!

To be brutally honest, Punk does look so lot like  miniature version of The Big Show in that picture. Whether or not you found it hilarious, I’m pretty sure that Vince McMahon certainly did.
